Perhaps best known for her work as an actor (notably starring in 24 and recently in The River) Leslie Hope has lately found herself on the other side of the camera. She directed the romantic comedy A VERY MERRY DAUGHTER OF THE BRIDE starring Luke Perry and Joanna Garcia, and the highly rated thriller A NEIGHBOR’S SECRET for TF-1 and Lance Entertainment. MERRY IN LAWS, starring Shelley Long and George Wendt, is her latest comedy, scheduled for a Christmas release. She directed MURDOCH MYSTERIES for Shaftesbury Films and CityTV, and was Executive Producer on THE BLING RING with Jon Eskenas for Dick Clark Productions.
She produced and directed the documentary WHAT I SEE WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES, which was selected by over 30 film festivals, won several awards as Best Documentary, and sold to Moviola, The Short Film Channel. Leslie was honored to have The Kent Film Festival name an award after her and her film-‘The Hope Award for Outstanding Work in Documentary Filmmaking’. Leslie’s previous directing and producing work includes the development of new works for the stage and a re-examination of the classics for The Wilton Project-a theatre company which she founded and ran for 10 years as Artistic Director with Charlie Stratton. She is a co-creator and director of the documentary reality series X-TREME MEDICINE and wrote and directed the internet hit movie GAYKEITH, which was picked up for distribution by Tricon.
